100 Common English Homonyms – Reference + Gap-Fill Activity

This is a brand new free printable worksheet for English teachers and students at Elementary level and above. Homonyms are words which have the same sounds and spelling, but different meanings, for example, ‘bat’ (cricket) and ‘bat’ (animal). It is good to be aware that the same word can have two or more meanings.

‘Homonym’ comes from the Greek words homos (same) + ónoma (name).

Featuring 100 common English homonyms, this useful resource will help students to understand this topic in English vocabulary. The accompanying gap-fill worksheet (below) allows students to practice what they have learned.
