5.5.6 Food Hygiene Rules 1
a) Write TRUE or FALSE next to each of the 15 food hygiene statements below:
- You must not use food after its expiry date has passed.
- Never wash raw chicken, because it increases the risk of food poisoning.
- Don’t bother washing your hands before you begin to cook.
- Clean up as you work – keep the food preparation area as clean as possible at all times.
- Do not wear an apron or protective gloves on a Friday.
- Wash fruit and vegetables before using them.
- The ideal temperature of your fridge should be between -5 and 0 degrees Celsius (°C).
- If you have a cut on your skin, do not cover it with a plaster.
- Use a mop to clean the kitchen floor – never a tea towel or a kitchen sponge.
- You may smoke in or near a food preparation area after 8pm.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw meat.
